The publisher of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic refuses to comment on rumors about the abolition of the project

With Star Wars Kotor remake, things are not the best. Until now, we have seen only a short teaser trailer that does not really talk about the game. Then the project was selected from the previous developer, Aspyr, as reported, due to fears about the slow development of the game. Now that it has passed another year without any updates about Kotor Remake – apart from the announcing trailer, remote Sony – many are afraid that the game was completely postponed.

What is even worse, Embracer Group and Saber do not comment on fears about the abolition of the game. For some reason, the studio did not even confirm the public that the game was not canceled, which was another strange turn in the difficult history of remake development.

Journalist Mike Strau from Insider Gaming confirmed that both companies refused to comment on fears about the abolition of Kotor, continuing their silence policy regarding the project.

This is not the first time that companies refuse to comment on this issue. Even in May, when there was information that the remake may not be released at all, Embracer CEO LARS WINGEFORS has evaded the answer to the investor’s question about the current status of Kotor remake. This only exacerbated fears that the game would never see the light, as well as recent events associated with the removal of the trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel.

It is curious that Sony deigned comments about this, saying that the deletion of a trailer does not necessarily mean that the game is postponed. Instead, the company said that removal is associated with the use of music in the trailer, which was expired. This, of course, is quite strange, given that many trailers use licensed music. But at least Sony is ready to answer the question about the remake, while Embracer and Saber are silent.

Unfortunately, given the latest actions Embracer, the abolition of the game is unlikely to be a surprise. Over the past few weeks, Embracer has conducted mass dismissals in many studios, including Gearbox and Crystal Dynamics. Then she generally closed the Volition company, unceremoniously completing her 30-year work in the industry. Given all this, Embacer is clearly in the process of reducing expenses, and the rejection of a single -user game, which has no exit window, unfortunately, will be a very attractive step for large Bosses Embracer.

In any case, even if the game is not canceled, we do not know when Kotor remake appears. We know that it will become an exclusive for the PS5 console, but otherwise it is still shrouded in mystery.
